Lewis' Pundit Predictions
Welcome back everybody to the second week of the Super League predictor league. Just as a small reminder on the format, each week myself and my opponent for the weeks games will predict the scores of the other games happening in the league, a correct score is worth 25 points and a correct result is worth 10 points. At the end of the league the person with the highest points total (mine will be the average of all my scores) will win a Alt Ulix Unicorn and Pixie box.
Last week me and Steve Johnson went toe to toe on the table and the predictor and although I lost our game of Malifaux, we tied on the predictor league on 50 points each, both correctly guessing 5 outcomes.
Week 2 sees me take on the most beautiful man in Wales – Luke Cocksedge. Luke has been playing Malifaux since 2013, attending 65 tournaments in that time, finishing on the podium 21 times. As well as being the current UK number 1 (at time of writing) and the 6 Nations Team Wales Captain, Luke is the mastermind behind the Welsh GT each year.
The Strats and Schemes for Week 2 are as follows:
Deployment: Corner
Strat: Public Enemies
Schemes: Take Prisoner, Hidden Martyrs, Claim Jump, Spread them Out, Research Mission

Dan Brown vs Jamie Varney
Last week I predicted a loss for Dan and he proved me wrong by beating my Meta mate Kai in a Sandeep vs Seamus match up. While he ended up winning last week I think this is a completely different level of games this week. Jamie is a top tier player and even though he got a Bye last round I can see this being a routine game on his climb up the table into the podium places. Dan’s best chance of victory comes in the shape of Sandeep due to crew knowledge but Bayou are known for being glass cannons and with heavy hitters like Mah and Ophelia leading the line it could be a long game for Dan.
Lewis’ Prediction: 6-3 win for Jamie
Luke’s Prediction: 7-5 win for Jamie
----------------------------------
Adrian Mills vs Craig Colley
Adrian kicked off his Super League campaign with a draw using the Crossroad 7 which is great play to utilize a crew often considered below par. I don’t know if he intends to run them every week or if the Masters of Guild will get a look in but if it is just the CR7 public Enemies is going to be an uphill climb. Craig Colley is replacing Matt Cole in the League after Matt had to drop. Craig is a great player who can often been seen near the top tables of the tournaments he attends. Unsure about what Resser practice Craig has and if it is mono CR7 for Adrian it could be a really tight match.
Lewis’ Prediction: 5-5 draw
Luke’s prediction: 5-4 win for Craig
----------------------------------
Radek Bry vs Kai Young
Radek’s loss to James last week could be called one of the upset results of the round. I know during VWC Radek was running Bayou so the return to Outcasts could have a few lingering cobwebs which Kai could fully exploit. As kai gets up to speed with the game again he’ll start to prove himself against people like Radek especially if he remembers you score 4 for strat not 3! Sadly I think there may just be too much for Kai to do in this game to see it out.
Lewis’ Prediction: 5-3 win for Radek
Luke’s Prediction: 7-4 win for Radek
----------------------------------
Karl Adam vs Stef McGlen
Battle for the Best Ginger is what this game will decide, Karl had a close game piloting Reva last week but was undone by McCabe, Stef hit the brick wall that was the CR7 and took the game to a draw so I don’t believe there is much between these two at all. One thing is guaranteed, it’ll be a laugh to listen too. However close I believe it to be I think the Ressers will pull a narrow win just to sheer attrition and wound count, lots of low cost high wound minions, while 10T models tend to be a little more pricey.
Lewis’ Prediction: 6-5 win for Karl
Lukes Prediction: 4-4 Draw
----------------------------------
Rice Chowder vs James Noillavert
James claimed a giant scalp in week one beating current UK Master Radek, this result has certainly made James an early dark horse and shows the beauty of the unknown quantity to the regular tournament goers like myself. Rice beat the top Bayou in Scotland last week using Zipp into Somer. Rice is playing a faction he knows well and even though James took Radek down last week Rice will be another tough opponent. Guild are great at the Strat for this round so master choice is going to be the start of the scales tip for James.
Lewis’ Prediction: 5-5 draw
Luke’s Prediction: 5-4 win for Rice
----------------------------------
Carl Lee vs Steven Thomson
Last week I predicted a loss for Carl and a win for Steven and got both results correct. While this is Carl’s second game with 10T a lot of the silly mistakes made in game 1 will be rectified in game 2, however the same can be said for Steven. I know from talking ot the guys it’s Misaki vs McCabe in this game so its going to be bloody. I’ve said in the past I will back my meta mates where I can but i think the 10T will have the options to take on the limited pool of McCabe toys. Steven will have to play a great denial game to pull this one off.
Lewis’ Prediction: 6-4 win for Carl
Luke’s Prediction: 5-5 draw
----------------------------------
Ross McGuiness vs Andrew Humphrey
Andrew was on the wrong end of an 8-0 scoreline last week vs Ollie Hedges, while Ross lost out in a close battle of the biggest hat so both guys have something to prove in week 2. Ross has an unfortunate 0-2-3 record in competitive vassal games so Andrew certainly could add to that misery. Outcasts can do alot of the schemes in this pool in their sleep while Bayou are great at the strat. However I’m going to back my 2G1P and Team Scotland team mate to break his Vassal duck.
Lewis’ Prediction: 4-2 win for Ross
Luke’s Prediction: 7-3 win for Ross
----------------------------------
Steve Johnson vs Ollie Hedges
Ollie slapped his e-peen all over this tournament last week running out 8-0 winner in his game. This was also his first competitive game with Guild so it shows what a top player he is and is one of the ones I would expect to be in the podium mix at the end. Steve managed to beat me last week 7-5 so he too is starting on the road to podium in a positive way. These two have played each other a few times on vassal recently but never with these 2 factions to my knowledge. Ollie has the edge knowing ressers well while he can spring some surprises as his Guild play is unknown really.
Lewis’ Prediction: 6-3 win for Ollie
Luke’s Prediction: 6-5 win for Ollie
----------------------------------
AJ Barr vs Matt Lewin
Team mates go head to head early for bragging rights until they have to play against Varney. AJ drew with newcomer Jan in week 1 while Matt managed a 1 point victory against Alasdair. While those results may seem surprising to those used to seeing the Flippin Wyrds storming tournaments sometimes the devil you know is better then one you don’t, so I think the game will be much more open. AJ has more faction knowledge so I’m going to tip him for the win on this one.
Lewis’ Prediction: 5-2 win for AJ
Luke’s Prediction: 6-6 draw
----------------------------------
Alasdair Cunniffe vs Luke Athiko
Alasdair had a tough week one game and gave himself a great showing against one of the top players on the scene. Luke managed to secure a win against Carl he isn’t playing someone with no competitive games under their belt this time round. This is another hard game to predict because I’m still unsure where Alsadair sits on the player curve thanks to his tough week one game. Due to this I’m going to call a close game for these 2.
Lewis’ Prediction: 4-4 draw
Luke’s Prediction: 5-4 win for Alasdair
----------------------------------
Rich Walters vs Jan Pietzrak
Rich beat my opponent for this week – Luke – in a close game while Jan held AJ to a draw which is a great result considering he picked the game up just as the UK went into National Lockdown in March. I don’t know the 10T master for this game although I do know that Rich declared Zipp, thanks to a conversation I’ve had with Jan. Zipp is strong in this scheme pool and could really snowball the opponent if they allow it to. Again due to faction knowledge and sheer number of competitive games with Outcasts, I’m gonna go with Rich keeping the unbeaten start going.
Lewis’ Prediction: 6-4 win for Rich
Luke’s Prediction: 6-5 win for Rich
----------------------------------
Bonus Round
Lewis Phillips vs Luke Cocksedge
I laid out at the start of the prediction league I wouldn’t guess my game results as it would be too easy for me to manipulate and wasn’t in the spirit of the fun I want this to predictor to be. Saying that Luke predicted our result so I will also although it wont count to the prize at the end. After knowing Luke for years we’ve only played once at a tournament where he was my opening game in the 2018 UK nationals. That day it was a dead close game and i expect this to the same way, however it wouldn’t be me if I didnt give Luke some sort of wind up pre game.
Luke’s Prediction: 6-4 victory for Lewis
Lewis’ Prediction: 7-2 victory for Villa sorry Lewis
Here's my own guestimations for round 2.
Dan Brown 2 vs 7 Jamie Varney Andrew Humphrey 4 vs 5 Ross McGuiness
Adrian Mills 4 vs 4 Craig Colley Alasdair Cunniffe 3 vs 6 Luke Athiko

Reice Chaudry 8 vs 2 James Noillavert Luke Cocksedge 4 vs 6 Lewis Phillips
